The adventure begins as you depart in a climate-controlled vehicle, escorted by an interactive eco-trained tour guide. The guide provides full-narration of the Everglades, including facts on the distinct Eco-systems and indigenous wildlife. Guests will be educated on everything from the history of the Seminole trading business to the strong conservation efforts to save endangered species.
Guests will board authentic airboats upon arrival in the Everglades for an exhilarating ride through the backwaters of the Gulf, including mangrove tunnels and old Indian trails. The experienced airboat captains will wind through the rugged Ten Thousand Islands, revealing the hiding spots of alligators, manatee and other local inhabitants.
You will experience an authentic wildlife sanctuary, situated on 259 lush acres which are surrounded by the Big Cypress National Park. While at the sanctuary you will have the opportunity to see over 100 alligators, some of the largest crocodiles in captivity, as well as lions, tigers, a bobcat, and a reptile exhibit. All animals within the sanctuary are either rescued from their previous owners or are being cared for due to injuries.
After the airboat, you will experience an authentic taste of the Everglades luncheon at the City Seafood Restaurant. This unique location offers picturesque vistas while you dine overlooking the Barron River. The local authentic restaurant is nestled in this small fishing village of Everglades City. You will enjoy outdoor and indoor dining as you watch pelicans, seagulls, manatees, tarpon, and occasionally alligators playing right off of the dock!
The Ten Thousand Island tour goes through the saltwater portion of the Everglades, the tour is fully narrated by a park trained naturalist as we weave through one of the world’s largest mangrove forests. Often seen are manatees, bald eagles, ospreys, roseate spoonbills, and the dolphins love to jump and play in the wake of the boat.
PLEASE NOTE: Airboats accommodate up to 6 passengers. Due to party size(s) and airboat/captain availability, Everglades Excursions cannot guarantee each party will be on the same airboat.
